Work. What is it good for?

April 19, 2009

At an early spring and sunny sunday probably not much. But regardless i ended spending the day at the office today. Finishing atleast 75% of the annual report, and revising the plan of action. Now i wait for feedback, but i guess the board has more sense and are using the day outside.
Atleast sunday working is effective with no particular want to stay at the office longer than neceserry, and no telephones that disturb me either. And while writing i have been following the congress of the social democratic party streaming on the web, and twitter comments about the same arrangement. I really understand the greatness of twitter now. Or atleast why it is a hit. I doubt it will be as big as Facebook, but it is a useful tool.

Adrian managed to get interviewed by VG together with the deputy leader of the party since he came with suggestions on her blog about what she should talk about in her speech to the party. He looks quite satisfied in the picture… A good example of how being a bit active online can get some surprisingly effective results sometimes. Job well done!

Car and radio

April 13, 2009

I am getting better at doing nothing when i am sitting in a car. That is – just sit, listen, look out the wondow. Not read or write or anything like that. Earlier i always had to do something, but today i have been sitting almost 5 hours in a car not doing much, just listening to radio.
P4, which is a norwegian radio station, was my follower for most of the trip. Its a station i only listen to when i am in a car, actually sometimes i wonder if there is where most norwegians are listening to this station.
They claim to be the “sound of Norway”. Which might be right, but only if the sound of Norway consists of 80s and 90s pop hits. It`s the station where top20-hits come to die, when all other stations has thrown or crashed the CD. But only if the song was made in the 80s or 90s so far. No 70s or 60, very little 00s was my impression.
I kind of thought that they were more up-to-date earlier, so if this is the sound of Norway then this country is stuck in the past somewhere.

Book trouble

April 11, 2009

Easter is crime-time. But i chose the wrong crime book this year. And now i am stuck halfway in a chase for the sword Excalibur. I think it might be a good movie, but as a book it lack a lot. It`s actually a bit annoying.
Luckily i have some others in the bagage, but in the meantime it is “Social Theory of International Politics” instead, when i am not doing office-stuff. It doesnt quite give me any easter-feelings though.

At the moment

April 10, 2009

Something is missing, something has changed. Like coming back to a place and not recognizing the faces, because the faces are of strangers. Here the faces are not of strangers, the house is familiar, something is likes it has always been. Something are still in place. But still – something is new, or perhabs has it been like that for a long time. It has.
I have more difficulties remembering, getting the pictures in my head. I need those pictures to feel home. Now this place is in-between. Partly in the past but with memories withering away. Partly now where i don`t know if i belong or not. I don`t know about the future. One day it all will be history. This house might stand here, or propably not. Noone will know, cause noone will remember. And no new histories are being made. And i don“t know how to behave.

Installed

April 8, 2009

Internet is functioning, i have pen and paper. i even have our membership registry on excel-files because i need to make it ready for being trasferred to a new system. So this sounds like office, except for the surroundings. The good chair, the view and my uncles living room. It is snow here. That is part of norwegian easter. When spring comes, and we are sick and tired of winter we go to places where it still is. Strange traditions. Atleast i am not going skiing this easter. Instead i am going to have fun with my excel-files and my pdf-documents and eat easter candy (which is ordinary candy, but eaten around easter.) And maybe try to get in the habit of bloging again also. Been a bit quiet here lately.
